Hi Paula it's Vince. Just wanted to find out how Baker is doing after his "run-in". How is the eye? Best, Vince.

Hello everyone, I am new here. I have a 5 months old cocker spaniel, he's currently experiencing cherry eye problem, we live in San Francisco. I am wondering if any of you know a good and save surgery place to go around the bay area, like Dr. Lee in San Diego. Thank you!

Hi Lulu -
So far I know of two vets that do this procedure - Dr. Lee in San Diego and Dr. Rodriguez in Orange County (Portola Vet Clinic, in Rancho Santa Margarita - also excellent tho more expensive). We've heard from a Chihuahua owner who heard of Dr. Lee thru this message board who lives in your area. She couldn't find anyone up there, so she scheduled down here with Dr. Lee! If I hear of any up your way, I'll post here. Peggy |

Peggy,
My 3 month old English Bulldog just developed Cherry Eye in a matter of a night. We went to sleep and woke up and she had it. Scary looking to see that on your baby. As far as you know, does Dr. Lee only with work with Cockers? I really hope not. I have been quoted at Banfield for the tuck procedure at $995!!! I just want the best for my lil girl and from what I've heard around here, Dr. Lee does a good job. The doctor at Banfield told me that she does not recommend a full removal, but she did not mention the partial removal. Is this ok for Lola? I don't want her to have any complications. Please let me know. And if you can give me Dr. Lee's contact info that would be great. I want to get this done ASAP! |

Hi Manuel -
I sent you an email reply, but this is good info for all to know. Dr. Lee performs Cherry Eye on all breeds. His contact info is: 619/280-1503 Mission Gorge Animal Hospital 6690 Mission Gorge Road San Diego I do want folks to know that Dr. Lee is great for basic care, for ear problems and for Cherry Eye. If we have a dog with something unusual going on, something "outside the box", then we do use one of our other vets for diagnosis and treatment. Also, if you have ear issues, send us an email. We go natural on treatments and have NEVER had to do an ear ablation (ear canal removal) yet on one of our Cockers (and Cocker Ear Infections are legendary!). Peggy Spaniel Social Meetup Organizer |

I just wanted to thank you Peggy for the info you had posted here.
My Boston Terrier had a case of cherry eye and I was immensely worried about the procedure and its cost, but after reading you referral, I took my ailing pooch to Dr. Lee. All I can say is how impressed I really was. In fact I joined just to thank you for posting the info. Not only was I able to obtain an exam on the same day I called, but Dr. Lee was able to operate on Rocky almost immediately. I had an 4:45 p.m. appointment and by 7 p.m,, I was out the door with my cured (though a tad woozy) Rocky. Thank you so much for the contact info you had posted. I really Appreciate it, and so does Rocky. -M |

My lucy, has cherry eye in one eye and I can see it starting in her other eye, too. Dr. Lee isn't there any longer, so does anyone have another option? My vet in Carlsbad charges about $1000 to do both eyes and would obviously, like to find in cheaper, although not at the expense of her well-being.
thanks susan |

I have a 3yr old beagle/springer spaniel mix ans she has cherry eye in both her eyes what woul dbe the total cost and what would be the best treatment plan so she never gets it again. she has had the cherry eye before but it went away by itself unfortuantally this time its still here.

Hi Elle,
You can google cherry eye and find lots of information on it. I don't think there is any way to guarantee that she doesn't get it again, as it is a muscle and even after surgery, it can pop back out. There are two popular treatments but neither is a guarantee. My vet chargers 1000 for both eyes, or 700 for one eye..... Most animal hospitals perform the surgery, so find someone that you are comfortable with.....that has been hard for me. susan |
