when we got our cocker he was on eukanuba, but it made him really gassy and we spoke to a rep from blue buffalo foods and she sold us on it. but now his poops are almost never solid and he has become even more gassy. what kind of food do you recommend? he is about 23lbs and 16months. thanks in advance.

We use Natural Balance - either Duck & Sweet Potato or Fish & Sweet Potato. Both Dusty & Rocky have a lot of allergies and this food works the best for them. May I ask if you are switching the food gradually? I'd like to suggest you switch the food very gradually - if you feed him 1 cup of food, mix 3/4 current and 1/4 new for several days, then 1/2 and 1/2 for several days, then 3/4 new and 1/4 current for several days, then you can switch him over to the new. Complete changes to new food even if it's a great quality food can upset their digestive system. I also give my cockers probiotics (one pill every day). That also has helped tremendously.

yes, we switched very gradually. over the couse of two or three weeks, maybe more. Then my guess is the Blue Buffalo is too rich for him. The Fish & Sweet Potato is supposed to be one of the most non-allergenic foods, so maybe that will work for you. |

Our cocker Annie is allergic to 93 items, everything out in the yard, needless to say we have tired all the foods and allergy injections...medications. She used to have loose stools. We found Deli Fresh. Again, introduce it slowly, but when she was in critical care (due to the IMHA immune reaction to her rabies vac.), all the critical care vets were very impressed with the food and wanted to know where we purchased it. They said it was really good food and even with all her meds they felt it kept her eating and her system healthy. She is now recovered and still loves her Deli Fresh. It is found at Pet Co, for us, but others use if from PetSmart. It is in a deli roll and is found in their Fridge and must be kept in the Fridge. Check for the date the farthest out on the rolls--good for a month or more.... Annie likes the chicken or turkey. Have several friends who now have their dogs on it, all had loose stools, all are now doing great. Several had stomach concerns, and keeping food down, all are now going great. PS it is a very balanced natural food cooked with fresh ingredients. Hope this helps, PS the critical care hospital now feeds it.....Ina and Annie
